Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise.”
(Sahih Bukhari 50:894)
It is used frequently in the Qur’an, particularly in the opening chapter, or surah, known as Surah Al-Fatihah. The name Ar-Rahmaan is often paired with the name al-Raheem, which also refers to God’s mercy and compassion. Both names are considered to be among the 99 Names of God, or Asma al-Husna, which are used to describe the attributes and characteristics of God.
