AR-RAHEEM
THE BESTOWER OF MERCY
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh .
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ .
May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be with you
Huwal lazee yusallee ‘alaikum wa malaaa’ikatuhoo liyukhrijakum minazzulumaati ilan-noor wa kaana bilmu’mineena Raheemaa
English Translation:
“It is He who confers blessing upon you, and His angels [ask Him to do so] that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And ever is He, to the believers, Merciful.”— (QURAN 33:43)
Ar-Raheem means Allah’s compassion and extra mercy especially for the believers. {And ever is He, to the believers, Merciful [Raheem]} (Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 43)
There is a hadith which tells that ALLAH’S Mercy prevails over his Wrath
On the Authority of Abu Huraira (R.A.),Allah’s Messenger (S.A.W) said,
When ALLAH had finished His creation,He wrote over his Throne:
“My Mercy Preceded My Anger.”
(Sahih AL-Bhukari:7453)
It is used frequently in the Qur’an, particularly in the opening chapter, or surah, known as Surah Al-Fatihah. The name Ar-Rahmaan is often paired with the name AR-Raheem, which also refers to God’s mercy and compassion. Both names are considered to be among the 99 Names of God, or Asma al-Husna, which are used to describe the attributes and characteristics of God.
Ar-Raheem conveys the idea of constant renewal and giving liberal reward to those who are deserving. Ar-Raheem is the Merciful One whose love and mercy are manifested as that which is received as the consequence of one’s deeds.
Ar-Raheem is the One Who bestows countless blessings. Some say that this word is derived from Rahim, and we have already come to know that the root word for it is rahma, that is, favors from Allah (SwT) and blessings; surely His blessings cannot be counted, nor can they ever be exhausted.
The Messenger of Allah (S) has said,”One who has no compassion towards people is deprived of Allah (SwT)’s Compassion.” He has also said,”One who does not respect the seniors among us, nor shows compassion towards our young, nor safeguards the rights of the scholars among us, is surely none of us.” Compassion towards the servants of Allah (SwT) is a sure path to achieving the mercy of Allah (SwT). The Messenger of Allah (S) has said,”Be merciful unto those on earth so that those in the heavens may be merciful unto you.”
Allah calls Himself Ar-Raheem The Bestower of Mercy, The Most Compassionate.
Ar-Raheem is the One who bestows His continuous mercy on all of creation and who bestows even more grace and greater rewards in response to the good deeds of the believers.
We as believers should always be a seeker of Mercy of ALLAH SWT becausee he is the one who forgives our sins and on the DAY OF JUGEMENT totally depends on the MERCY of ALLAH SWT.
